 his 8 minute video was made from 15 minutes of mini DV tape shot our last night in India, December 27th, 2003, one year before the tsunami. Perhaps the day has no significance, as these scenes reveal ordinary life at Marina Beach in Chennai, but when I viewed this footage after the tsunami, and realized that some of the people in the film may have died or lost family and friends, the tape took on a new resonance. Mixing the clips with the music of L. Shankar and U. Srinivas became a way for me to ponder the magnetude of the tragedy and the preciousness of ordinary life.
